Homologación Document Service · All 50 States

Your U.S. degree, prepared for Spain's homologación — done right the first time.

5.0·158 Google Reviews

Spain rejects most files for three avoidable reasons: wrong notarization timing, wrong apostille state, and the wrong translation credential. We handle all three — apostille filed in your school's state and MAEC-sworn Spanish translation by a court-appointed Traductor-Intérprete Jurado.

We prepare and authenticate documents. The homologación decision is made by Spain's Ministry of Universities — outside our control.

The #1 Mistake We See

Certified vs. Sworn.
Only one gets accepted.

Both look official. Only the sworn translation passes the MAEC desk. See real samples below.

Rejected by MAEC

Standard Certified Translation

Translated by a U.S. certified translator and notarized — perfectly valid in the U.S., but Spain will not accept it for homologación.

  • Translator is not a MAEC-appointed Traductor Jurado
  • No sworn-translator stamp or jurado number
  • U.S. notary signature has no standing in Spain
Accepted by MAEC

Sworn (Jurada) Translation

Translated by a Traductor-Intérprete Jurado appointed by Spain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs — the only format the Ministerio de Universidades will accept.

  • MAEC sworn translator with valid jurado number
  • Official sworn stamp + required certification formula
  • Binds original + translation, accepted without review

After Delivery

Your next steps after we deliver your documents.

Once your package is in hand, here's exactly what to do next.

  1. Step 1

    Submit to Spain's Ministry

File online via the sede electrónica or in person at a Spanish consulate. Include your apostilled docs, MAEC translations, solicitud form, and passport copy — names must match exactly.

  2. Step 2

    Pay the tasa

Spain's government processing fee, paid directly to the Ministry at submission. Amount varies by degree type. Separate from our service.

  3. Step 3

    Track your status

You'll get a reference number (número de expediente) to track via the sede electrónica. Review takes months to over a year — outside our control.

  4. Step 4

    Respond to any subsanación

If Spain requests corrections, the deadline is firm. Need rush apostilles or translations? Existing clients get prioritized.

Need help with the submission or a subsanación response?

We can refer you to Spanish immigration attorneys who handle Ministry of Universities filings, appeals, and administrative proceedings in Spain. Contact us and we'll connect you with the right firm for your situation.

Common questions about homologación

Homologación is the administrative process through which Spain's Ministry of Universities officially recognizes a foreign degree as equivalent to a Spanish one. It's required for regulated professions — medicine, law, architecture, engineering, and others — and for many public sector and immigration purposes. We handle the U.S. side of the process: document preparation, notarization, Secretary of State apostille filed in the correct state, and MAEC-certified sworn Spanish translation by a court-appointed Traductor-Intérprete Jurado. The recognition decision — and the timeline for that decision — is made by Spain's Ministry of Universities after you submit. Our job is to make sure your file gives them no reason to reject or return it on procedural grounds.
Because Spain's apostille requirement follows the document's origin, not the applicant's location. An apostille certifies the notary's authority and the document chain — and the Secretary of State can only certify notaries and officials from their own state. If your school is in Texas and you file the apostille in Pennsylvania, Spain will reject it as an invalid chain of authentication. We file in the correct state every time, without exception.
