Venezuela Is A Hague Apostille Country
Venezuela and the United States are parties to the Hague Apostille Convention. Covered U.S. public documents destined for Venezuela generally need the appropriate American apostille rather than the traditional embassy legalization sequence. The certificate authenticates an official signature, seal and capacity; it does not approve a property transaction or establish the truth of the record’s contents. Venezuela’s system for apostilling its own records is a separate process. An American birth certificate or FBI report is authenticated by the competent U.S. authority, not by submitting it as a Venezuelan-origin document. Our review keeps that distinction clear at the beginning.
